Pythagorean Theorem:
The first thing that we did in our learning in geometry was the Pythagorean Theorem. The Pythagorean Theorem is a theorem in geometry: the square of the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle equals the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides. In algebraic terms, a² + b² = c² where c represents the hypotenuse, while a and b are the legs of the triangle
If you were to connect all of them together if would end up making a large square and a square right in the middle, looking like the image to the left. Now for finding the side lengths for c would be c squared because each side has a length of c. As for a and b is simple. It would be b minus a to find the inner side length of the inside square.

Measurment Presentations :
For this part of our project we had to take an object from the world and find the volume and area. I decided that I wanted to work in a group, my partners are Mariela Alvarez and Sofia Mertz.
The Object we chose was the Nefertiti Sculpture:
The Object we chose was the Nefertiti Sculpture:
To find the volume of a pyramid, you first need to find the Base of an equilateral triangle.
What we know: the height of the triangle (the nose) is 1.2 inches Equilateral Triangle: 60 degrees all around Use SOH CAH TOA to find base and right triangles Base: 2.178 inches Height: 1.2 inches Volume: l w h ⅓ |
The lengths were already given so we decided to find the area and we used these formual's:
Area of a Square: a = l w Area of a Equilateral Triangle: a = b h ½ Area of a Rectangle: l w Area of a circle: A=πr2 After we had that we used it so find the volume. We also used trigonometry functions to find pyramid/nose Volume of a cylinder: V = π r^2 h Volume of a cube: V = a^3 Volume of a rectangular prism V= l w h Volume of a pyramid: l w h 1/3 Some habits of a mathematician we had during this process were staying organized and take apart. We stayed organized with the presentation. Making sure everything was in order and checking our work for errors. We took apart the overall shape of the statue by breaking it up into individual shapes that we knew how to solve. This mini project provided to be much more changeling then I expected it to be. I think my group and I collaborated well together. |
